Morrow Mountain

Morrow Mountain is a NC State Park established in 1930's and open to the public in 1939, located within the Uwharrie Mountains.  There is an archeological dig located in the park, the Hardaway Site and popular with scholars and enthusiasts for decades.  Rich in Native American finds and history, Morrow Mountain has the largest body of Native American stone work in existence. The hike to the top of the mountain is a mere 5 miles and worth the effort it takes to reach the peak.  Points of interest are the Dr Kron's house, Lake Tillery, the Pee Dee River, museum of the Uwharries, camping and thirty-two miles of trails to enjoy.
